Supports (metal and other materials)
Membrane switches are assembled on machined metal supports with a variety of surface finishes including painting epoxy and anodising, among others. Various types of studs, standoffs and other metal inserts can also be added. Acrylic and polycarbonate elements can be machined to any thickness greater than 2 mm.
Finger-guide or embossing
The graphic overlay is embossed to give different geometrical shapes and options to the individual keys. We can either emboss key rims or emboss the whole key surface.
Shielding EMI / RFI and ESD
Shielding by conductive inks that eliminate operating problems in environments with a high level of electrical and magnetic interference, thereby preventing their transfer to the electronic circuit. The membrane switches can also be protected against electrostatic discharges. Shields are optional. Our technical team will be happy to analyse your specific requirements.
Optional transparent windows for LCDs through front detexturisation, with the possibility of including colour filters. In other applications, glass or acrylics can be inserted into the switch in order to increase the protection of the display or monitor behind the membrane switch.
The same membrane switch design can accommodate personalised texts, graphics or colours. Simply leave a transparent window or insert the text required into the rear of the membrane switch. This new text can be changed as often as you require.
In cases where this standard applies, we use a specific switch design that prevents humidity entering the assembly's interior electronic components.
Connection cables are supplied with the following terminals: male or female Berg Duflex, Berg Clincher and Nicomatic connectors (2.54 mm pitch). Flat terminals of different pitches (from 1mm) for inserting ZIF-type connectors.
Illuminated membrane switches
Membrane switches can be lit by a number of different methods, the simplest and most economical being a special silk-screen printing process and a light transmission source located at the back of the switch. Another, slightly more complicated method involves a special plate which requires a converter in order to light it up. Integrating leds can also illuminate membrane switches.
